Michael Neil Jacobsen

Michael Neil Jacobsen is an Asheville-based sculptor and interdisciplinary artist whose work explores the quiet depth of minimal abstraction. His practice centers on translating the subconscious, its conflicts, resolutions, and moments of harmony into visual form. Through deliberate movement, balanced line, and distilled shape, Michael seeks to reveal the inner spaces where turbulence meets clarity and where problem-solving evolves into peace.

Rooted in North Carolina, Michael studied art at East Carolina University and continued graduate work at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. His public sculptures appear across the Southeast, including the large-scale work Aria, commissioned by the City of Greenville, South Carolina.

After working within an artisan collective in New York City and completing a printmaking-focused residency at Penland School of Craft, Michael returned to the Blue Ridge Mountains. He now lives and works in Asheville, creating contemplative, quietly resonant pieces from his studio.
